Caveat: Fallout 3

Posted by Manifesto

First of all, Caveat is one of my new favorite words and you can look forward to me finding excuses to use it. For those who don't know it essentially means Caution or Warning, and is pronounced "Kavy-at" and not "Cave Eat" as it appears. See, education is cool kids.

Now to Fallout 3... over in like 6 hours? wtf is that!?! Well... there's certainly more playtime to be had, but if you follow the main questline you'll reach a conclusion pretty quickly and the game doesn't leave you to your open ended sandbox game... no... a movie, credits, and fade to black!

So, if you want to go back and do all those side quests or just roam the wastes looking for cool stuff you'll need to start again or jump on an older save file. I guess it's good if you're someone who needs closure on a game but don't want to spend a large time investment just for the main story... you have the option of skipping all the extra tidbits and just following the story.

I opted to re-start tonight and play a slightly different path... I won't drop spoilers, but I did find a pretty cool little village up near Tenpenny tower, where there are 2 little stereotypical 1950's families living, the fathers go "to work" and the mum cooks and looks after their child. The fathers "work" is capturing passers bye and producing sweeny style meat for their families! Ahahaha, I thought it was great.

Though overall it's a fantastic game, positioning your attributes and skill points at the start is pretty daunting... but a couple quick loads and I had the hang of it. I haven't played many RPG-Shooters but I could see myself getting into them more.

This is all part of my new scheme resulting from me quitting World of Warcraft... I want to broaden my horizons and pickup all those games I've liked the look of but not yet played. I won't do reviews on the games I try... but I might post some commentaries. I think a Wii and/or PS3 is on the books too... since I haven't touched consoles since my faithful N64, and considering I'd like to work in the field... I guess I should know what I'm on about.

PS. I can't get a header image to work, it's 760px wide like it should be... it shows up in the little Header edit thing, but it just won't show on the actual blog! I don't think the template is stuffed...

Retro Post... Food.

Ok, so I've been abandoned.
Everyones going out for dinner and I'm left here alone... without food.
I'm quite happy to hammer away on my pewter alone, but the lack of food is quite disturbing. What shall I make?
Chips... Pie... Cup Noodles... hmm... I could go out for food... as long as I leave before dark coz the tail lights on the beetle aren't running just yet...
You know how sometimes you know exactly what you want to eat, and you go make it and you're completely content... why can't I be like that now. I have no idea what I want, I'm not hungry yet, but I know it's coming...
So... if you have food... please send it to me.

I had French Toast for lunch/breakfast... it's lunch/breakfast and not brunch because I woke up at 11 today because I'm not working. I feel a little funny...

A First for Everything

Posted by Manifesto

Hi,
And Welcome to my Blog... "A... Manifesto?" I myself am, "Manifesto" well... that is the alias I've gone by recently.

Manifesto - a public declaration of intentions, opinions, objectives, or motives.
Truth be told when I chose the name it was just cool for the sake of cool... I've used many names in my time... Kaos Kid, Kaos, OneTrueKaos, SmurFing, Gehn, Mokai, Roulk. One and the same.

Now this blog... will be interesting perhaps. I'll tell you a little about myself... and that will define where this blog is headed.

I'm currently 20 years old and live in Australia.
I'm studying CGI and Visual Effects, I most enjoy Modeling... and hope to increase my skills in Texturing to complement.
It's my dream to work at a Game's Dev Company or an Animation/Advertising Company... Although my course is aimed at CGI for Film, and not Game Art.
I currently would describe myself as confident with Maya, Photoshop and Fusion. These are the programs we study. However, more important than any one program are the concepts and ideas... Maya is a good grounding to be able to pick up any 3D program quickly, and Fusion is a great introduction to Nodal Compositing.
As I've already said, my particular niche seems to be Modeling, though realistically I'd take any job I can to get my foot in the door. I'm a blank canvas awaiting specialization.

I'd consider myself an avid gamer, and have been for most of my life. I'm currently playing Team Fortress 2 and World of Warcraft...
I've always enjoyed games not just for the gameplay, but for the design and the art as well. I love picking up on the small but significant design choices the game developers have made to guide you or affect your emotions as you play.

World of Warcraft specifically, I play an Enhancement Shaman by the name of Manifesto on Caelestrasz, Bloodlust. You can find me on any alt by using a /who Manifesto, as my alts are in a guild called "Manifesto's Bank". With the release of Wrath of the Lich King, I intend to play a Deathknight called "Manefisto".

Now this blog... it seems it will be a mix between new Art Pieces, 3D... as well as some general game news... thrown in with some World of Warcraft Theorycraft and Guides. To top it off, I'll occasionally do general thought posts on my life ponderings... things that make you think.

I should mention, I've had a DeviantArt Page which I've been using as sort of a Blog the past three years... every now and then I might copy and paste a chunk from a Journal as sort of a Retro-post. You can view my Journal as well as my Art over at otkaos.deviantart.com

I'll leave you with an Oscar Wilde quote, fresh out of iGoogle.
"Morality, like art, means drawing a line someplace."
